Saturday 12 March 2022, 14:00 – Concertzender Live. Anyone who knows Kika Sprangers and her music will enjoy this concert recording, and for anyone who doesn’t – listen up !
The 28 year old saxophonist, composer and bandleader Kika Sprangers is doing very well. On stage she’s leading various lineups, from Quintet to Large Ensemble. Her compositions are reaching symphonic proportions – witness her music for the string ensemble Pynarello. In 2021 she received the Rogier van Otterloo Award. During the recent lockdown Sprangers was Artist in Residence at TivoliVredenburg, which resulted in her fourth cd Mind’s Eye and a similarly named concertfilm, to be seen on YouTube.
On 28th November 2021 the group Alto for Two performed in TivoliVredenburg. All five musicians contributed compositions . The pieces are nicely varied in character, tempo, structure and keep surprising. The quality of both ensemble and solo work is very high.
